As part of Seniors Festival 2026, Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre (APARC), Boroondara Sports Complex (BSC), and Kew Seniors Centre are hosting a series of free, social, and movement-focused activities to celebrate our senior community.
All events are designed to promote health, wellbeing, and connection — with a warm welcome to regulars and newcomers alike.

Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre (HALC)
Chair Yoga and Afternoon Tea

Description: We're holding a Chair Yoga session for our senior members at Hawthorn Aquatic & Leisure Centre. Come and join us for some gentle movement with our experienced instructor. The session will be followed by some light refreshments in our cafe, so stay and have a chat!

Tai Chi and Afternoon Tea

Ping Pong Parkinson Open Day

Description: Come and join us for our free PPP Open Day to try table tennis, connect with your local community and chat over a coffee and morning tea. Sessions are suitable for individuals of all abilities living with Parkinsons and their carers.

Nutrition Seminar – Healthy Eating, Healthy Aging
Date: Wednesday 28 October 2026
Time: 1:30pm – 2:30pm
Description: Eating well can help you stay strong, maintain your independence, and support your health as you age. But do your nutrition needs change over time? How much protein do you need? And if you're less active, should you be eating less?
Join Accredited Practising Dietitian, Samantha Brazzale from healthAbility, for an engaging and practical session that explores the role of nutrition in healthy ageing. Learn how your nutritional needs change with age and take away simple, evidence-based tips to help you stay healthy, active, and independent for longer.Cost: Free

Kew Seniors Centre
Men’s Strength Club (60+)
Date: Thursday 15 October 2026 (running every Thursday for 8 weeks)
Time: 1:30pm - 2.30pm
Description: Come along to the Men’s Strength Club at Kew Seniors Centre, running for 8 weeks from 15th October. The sessions will involve exercises and ideas you can take home, with an opportunity to socialise with other men and have a coffee after the session.

Carers Week 2026
Boroondara Leisure & Aquatic Facilities also welcomes carers for free activities, followed by a free coffee in our café space, this National Carers Week. All classes are free to access, and do not require prior booking – just turn up!
To access a class, please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your start time, and show your carers card to our team at reception, and they’ll show you to the class room. If you have any questions or additional needs, please contact us at community@ymca.org.au. You are welcome to come to any or all of our classes below.
